On February 28, 2003, President Bush issued the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 5. HSPD 5 directed the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop and administer a National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.

Firefighters from the Lawrenceville Fire Company received training on NIMS on January 18, 2006.  The training was conducted by Deputy Chief Ray Nagy. Firefighters who attended the training are required to take an online post training test.

The Lawrenceville Fire Company responded to assist the City of Trenton on a multi-alarm structure fire on January 8, 2006. The Trenton Fire Department was dispatched around 8:00 p.m. to a reported structure fire at 1301 New York Avenue. Upon arrival E-6 reported a working fire in a furniture factory. The building occupied an entire city block and was well involved as other unit arrived. The fire quickly went to three alarms. R-23 was dispatched to the scene around 8:45 p.m. Upon arrival R-23 laid a 5" supply line from side C of the fire building to a hydrant on Strawberry Lane. R-23 supplied T-33 for approximately 4 hours. At approximately 11:00 p.m. T-23 was also dispatched to the scene. T-23 took up a position on side D of the building in an empty parking lot. T-23 was supplied by E-6 and went into service with an elevated master stream. The fire was declared under control at approximately 1:00 a.m. R-23 and T-2 cleared the scene around 2:30 a.m. Units from almost every company in Mercer County were dispatched and participated in this incident.
The members of the Lawrenceville Fire Company would like to congratulate Firefighter Samantha Carnevale on her recent graduation from United States Air Force Basic Training. In addition to being a firefighter Samantha served as company secretary for two years. We are all proud of her and wish her the best in all that she does!

Shortly after the tragedy of September 11, 2001, a local resident came by the firehouse and asked what he could do to help. His name was Jim Brown. While there was not much that Jim could do directly to help with the tragedy, Jim decided to join the Lawrenceville Fire Company. Jim quickly completed his fire fighting training and began running calls in 2002. For the next three years Jim was one of the Lawrenceville Fire Company's top responders and most popular fireman around the firehouse. Jim left us in 2004 to take a career position at the Hilton Head Fire and Rescue Department on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. One of Jim's daughters recently decided to write a letter to he Hilton Head Monthly magazine about her father. Click here to read the article from Hilton Head Monthly.

We here at the Lawrenceville Fire Company miss Jim but we are truly pound to know that Jim is still serving the public at his new job. The residents and visitors of Hilton Head Island should be proud to have such a dedicated firefighter serving them.

Good luck Jim and be safe!

The Lawrenceville Fire recently purchased a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe Chief's Vehicle.

The Deputy Chief's vehicle has also been refurbished and equiped with new lights, lettering and a command center.
